Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture of is a state university, governed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, training and doing scientific research in the fields of culture, arts, information and tourism.

  • Before Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture, there was the School of Culture and Information, which was established on 3rd January, 1976 (pursuant to the Decision of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the South), training at the intermediate level and developing abilities needed for managers in culture and information sector.
  • On 30th August, 1976, it was renamed the School of Reasoning and Operation pursuant to the Decision No. 110/VH-QD by the Minister of Culture.
  • On 19th September, 1981, pursuant to the Decision No. 121/VH-QD by the Minister of Culture, the school was renamed the School of Culture.
  • On 26th April, 1995, the school was upgraded to Ho Chi Minh City College of Culture at the Decision No. 1787/VH-QD by the Ministry of Culture and Information.
  • On 23rd June, 2005, at the Prime Minister's Decision No. 154/2005/QD-TTg the college was upgraded to Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture, providing undergraduate courses and postgraduate courses.

  - Modes of study

- Full time training;

- Second degree;

- Articulation (from the intermediate and undergraduate level to university level c)

- Short-term training and fostering training courses (according to the thematic subjects, upgradation courses of professional titles, professional practice certificates or other contents requested by agencies, organizations and local government).

- Campus 2: 288 Do Xuan Hop street, Phước Long A ward, District 9, Ho Chi Minh city.

Achievements and honors

Since its foundation in 1976, over 40 years of inception and development, Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture has trained more than 40,000 qualified graduates in the fields of culture, arts, information and tourism. This is deemed an important human resource to meet the needs of the industries in the southern provinces and the whole country.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture has been given valuable rewards by the Party and the State:

- Labor Order, third class in 1991.

- Labor Order, second class in 1996.

- Labor Order (the second time), second class in 2001.

- Labor Order, first class in 2006.

- Independence Order, third class in 2011.

- Friendship medal of President of Laos in 2012.

- Labor Order, first class in 2016.

  And many other noble rewards.

*The Labor Order is an award conferred or posthumously conferred on individuals and conferred on collectives that have recorded outstanding achievements in labor, creativity or national construction.
